About This Project
This website presents research analyzing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) systems in India across multiple dimensions of public interest.
Analysis Framework
Each DPI system is evaluated across seven key properties:
- Governance, Ownership, and Development
- Who controls the system? How are decisions made? What role do public vs. private actors play?
- Economic and Business Model
- How is the system funded? Who bears costs? What are the incentive structures?
- Openness and Transparency
- Are specifications open? Can the system be audited? Is there vendor lock-in?
- Security and Vulnerability Management
- How are security issues handled? Are there bug bounties? What's the track record?
- Data Collection, Storage, Sharing, and Linking
- What data is collected? How is it stored? Who can access it? Can it be linked across systems?
- Coercion and Consent
- Is usage voluntary? Are there alternatives? What happens if you opt out?
- Accountability, Metrics, and Oversight
- Who provides oversight? Are metrics published? How are grievances addressed?
